Single day of information

In pursuance of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of June 16, 2003 № 254, in order to implement the constitutional right of employees to receive complete and reliable information on the activities of state bodies, on political, economic, cultural and international life, on the results of the activities of local authorities, a single information day is held on the third Thursday of each month. Employees of state bodies, heads of enterprises, healthcare and educational institutions, figures of science, culture and art, lecturers of the republican state-public association «Belarusian Society «Knowledge» are involved in its implementation.

One of the most active forms of ideological work is meetings of information and propaganda groups and speakers with work collectives within the framework of a single information day.

A single information day is a set of events held monthly (every third Thursday of the month), which are held by members of information and propaganda groups and invited speakers.

The role of single information days, at which members of information and propaganda groups speak, is very great. They are an effective link in «feedback» with people, explaining their rights and obligations, state policy and decisions of local authorities; during the single information days, opinions are exchanged on the most pressing social issues, and the problems of the city, the republic and the work collective are not ignored. The proposals, comments and requests received are summarized, measures are taken on them, and their implementation is monitored.

Unified information days, like no other form of work, allow for the development of fruitful interaction between the authorities and citizens of the country. In each specific case, another effect is achieved: discontent of residents is prevented. Many issues raised during the single information day are resolved more quickly, and people are convinced of the attentive attitude of the leaders to their problems. It is very important when each member of the work collective really sees that the local government is ready to solve his problems. Practice shows that any issue is always easier to solve on the spot, in the working order, than by bureaucratic methods.

The main tasks of information and propaganda groups are:

1. Explanation of the ideology of the Belarusian state and the main directions of the state policy.

2. Broad informing of citizens of the country about the activities of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and other government bodies.

3. Studying public opinion and analyzing the socio-political situation in the country.

4. Determining priority areas in information and propaganda work among work collectives and students.

5. Providing methodological and organizational assistance to group members, ensuring control over their activities.

6. Studying and summarizing the experience of ideological and information work of information and propaganda groups, preparing recommendations for improving their activities.

7. Review of citizens' requests received during unified information days; response to the analysis of applications and complaints during speeches by members of information and propaganda groups.
